Has anyone cleaned their sail track without destepping the mast? I have nylon slugs which are ten years old and maybe somewhat worn but still work well. I have read that someone used small pieces of ivory soap between the sail slugs and, as they raised and lower the sails, the soap would lubricate the track, and the rain would wash it out eventually. Does anyone know if this really works?

I was thinking about using SuperLube with PTFE to spray the slugs and then the track up as far as I can reach. Has anyone tried this method? Just looking for suggestions.

I have slug that I run up and down with the main halyard. I put a small rag/cloth around the slug and add some WD40. Can't say that it ever helps but I llike the soap idea.
I too will be interested in the answers to this posting.:D:D
