The toughest thing I have found to clean on my H240 (and even on prior boats) is the Rub Rail. It seems impossible to clean. Any recommendations??

Ajax

Almost every time we pull into jetties down here our rub rail gets covered in "BLACK" gunk. Our city council in this town is about 20-30 years behind any other coastal town when it comes to providing decent boating facilities. Our jetties are still clad in old car tyres. We use a product called AJAX. It is a very fine abrasive powder used in kitchens, bathrooms and it removes all stains with ease using a damp cloth to apply. Only thing is that you need to make sure you do not come into contact with the Gelcoat. Regards

Soft Scrub

I know that soft scrub with bleach works great. I am not sure how good it is for the rubrail material though. Use it with a scrubby type 3m pad or other mild abrasive.

Simple Green

We’ve tried acetone, patio furniture cleaner and a number of other chemicals. This past season we used Simple Green and were pleases with the results. When you apply it you have to let it sit awhile but not to the point where it starts to dry. Then a stiff brush or a scotch bright scouring pad will work. Then fresh water rinse. It does take off wax so where ever it drips or sprays onto is going to need to be re-waxed. We also applied wax to the rail and it looked great the whole (6 month) season.

Tough stains

Too often folks have not cleaned the rub rail. There are all types of solutions; however if everything else fails, then the last resort is the following. Use acetone as the last resort. IF that don't get it, then you can sand the sucker with maybe 400 grit wet and dry. If using acetone on the HCT boats or anything under the 212, be extremely careful not to get acetone on your boat or it will melt. Crazy Dave Condon

Did anyone try Island Girl pink?

And if so, what were the results?
