Cleaning the hull

HI guys, my Catalina was in the Marina for 3 months(Lake), now very dirty with dark hull, any experiences of how to clean that? I tried hard with soap, sponges etc. Thanks a lot. Good sailing! Wicho!

You'll find that lots of us differ on how to best clean up a dirty boat. Check the archives. Lots of good info there. After you wash it, if it were me, I'd use a BIG buffer and some very, very fine compound (not the stuff you you get at West Marine) then put on two coats of the best wax you can find. Best of luck.

cleaning algae

I've always used liquid toilet bowl cleaner to take the algae and mildew type stains. It's acid based so I'd dilute it some first. A little goes a long way. Rinse well after cleaning. Buy it cheap at Smart & Final.
