Peggy, What should I use to clean out the holding tank? I'm assuming if I fill it 1/2 full with some cleaning solution and let it agitate for a a couple hrs it might be a good idea once a year as "maintenence". The tank is poly (1998 Hunter H376). Should I use soap? Simple Green? Bleach? I use Odorlos as my tank treatment. Thanks. Bob F.

Water is all you really need

But you can add some detergent if you want to. The tank really should be thoroughly flushed out every 2-3 months--and especially in prep for winter layup. Put about 5 gallons of water into the tank via the deck pumpout fitting ('cuz that sends the water into the tank at the bottom to stir up any sludge and hold it in suspension)...pump it out. Repeat...repeat...repeat...til you're puming out only clean water. You can also use a washdown pump to add water and the macerator to dump it out of th tank. That's about all the maintenance a waste tank needs except for the vent. That should checked regularly, backflushed every time you pump out and/or wash the boat ...'cuz you never want to let the vent become blocked.
