Hi all...
I am wondering if anyone has found a way to clean the stains off of the hard white plastic cockpit table Hunter uses.

This material is also used for the back seats and the area between the teak is hard to get even close to white.

thanks,
jack

We use a chlorox based cleaner and it seems to handle the stains and the mold that grows around the edge and fiddles.

I have used bleach solutions with very little benefit. I also have rust stains from the screws that secure the pushpit seats to the stainless rails. I haven't found anything that seems to touch the rust stains. It seems to me that I have tried oxalic acid on the rust stains also to little or no effect.

I'll be watching this thread for the silver bullet!

Jack and Rich,

May I suggest X-14 to remove bleachable stains and rustoleum to remove rust stains. Otherwise an orbital sander with fine grit sandpaper will remove these. The latter is how I removed stains from white plastic table.

I have used purple cleaner (I think that might be the name). I find it in my auto parts store it comes in a big purple jug similar to an antifreeze jug. It is a degreaser; the only thing is that it will also remove the wax, so re-wax the surface.

I also read on another thread that CLR works well on rust stains.

That "purple stuff" I believe is called SUPER CLEAN, and it is terrific. It can be used in varying degrees of "thinning" with water. I just used it full strength on a hypalon dinghy that was not maintained. It came up like new. AND, it's biodegradble.
