I have just purchased a 250. Despite the boat being kept only in fresh water, the exterior could use a good cleaning. What are the best products to use to enhance the finish and remove general water stains? Thanks!
Believe it or not, I used Mr. Clean no rinse bathroom cleaner. It's made for fiberglass showers so, I figured, why not? My C250 was at the marina but a far way from any water source for washing. It worked pretty well. I then used West Marine's all n one polish/wax and a 10" buffer. Looks great. Congratulations on your new boat. What year? Water ballast or Wing keel? Have you visited the C25/C250/Capri site yet?
I use StarBrite deck wash on the decks and cockpit. It cleans very well and leaves behind a coating that protects the gelcoat but is not slippery. For bird poop stains and spot cleaning I use 409 or similar. I also find that white vinegar is great for tough stains.Take John's advice and go to the Catalina 25/250 forums. Lots of great information from people with the same boat as you! Also, join the Association ($22/year) and get the Catalina Mainsheet magazine too.
