Cleaning Sunbrella

I was fortunate in that the previous owner of our 1988 Catalina 30, had custom made sunbrella (pacific blue) covers for the all things on deck that are teak. We have a large cover that extends to the mast and extends aft that covers the teak rails, cabin entrance boards, winches, etc. Additionally sunbrella covers the bow pulpit, cockpit coaming boxes, etc, etc, etc. Now its time to clean these many pieces up, but before throwing everything in a heavy duty washing machine, has anyone had any experience with the proper cleaning and treatment of sunbrella. Several panels have some algal staining. Can I use bleach (diluted)? Will sunbrella shrink in a dryer? After cleaning can it be treated with scotchguard? Any information is greatly appreciated. Regards Bob

Sunbrella Web site has the instructions.

Don't use soap, use woolite. Then spray with 303 High Tech Fabric Guard™. But read the site http://www.sunbrella.com/usa/

Just did it.

Just washed the lifeline backrests and the green stuff disappeared nicely with woolite. The Web site takes all the guesswork out of it. Mac

Do not use the dryer

Bob, I have gotten good results using the boat soap and a gentle brush. Rinse with lots of water and let air dry only. They will dry very quickly. I read somewhere that you NEVER want to use your electrical dryer with Sunbrella. As mentioned, finish off with 303. John Richard s/v Jack's Place

Thanks..Woolite it is

I must have over 200 square feet of this stuff covering everything on the boat. Woolite and 303 sounds like the answer. Appreciate the feedback everyone. Fair winds Bob "Breezin II" Catalina 30 Lake Lanier, Ga
