I followed those cleaning tips last year, they work. I found mixing both the Woolite AND a little bleach together on ONE mix did it best. I have a light tan dodger, much like your light gray.

I just took a power washer to my sunbrella boat cover. Not the factory approved method but worked quite well.

I filled a large plastic garbage can with water and dumped some bleach in it. Stuffed my main cover in and used a 2x2 to agitate periodically. Left it in approx 24 hrs. Spread it out on the driveway and gave the problem areas a good stiff brushing and put back in the can For awhile. After several rinses, spread it out to dry. Worked quite well..

The green is best prevented by regular water repellent treatment. That helps it dry more quickly. Treatment with a quaternary amine silicone compound, such as Goldshield, is also very helpful. Even benzalkonium chloride helps for a few months.

[I had a friend in Seattle test these products for me in his climate]

I used Woolite mixed with white vinegar on my light grey sunbrella. It works well for the green stuff but takes some elbow grease with a stiff brush, too. I was reluctant to use bleach.
