All of the lens covers on my Gray ports are dull or cloudy looking (possibly crazed) and I would rather try to clean them up versus buying replacement covers at about $35 a piece. I have read that it might be possible to restore or remove the cloudiness look by compounding lightly and then polishing. Has anyone done this and will this technique work? Greg W De Pere, WI

I had a original Hunter ports that were crazed, and the bulkhead compass was too. I dont remember the name of the suff, but it helped a little, but its not waterproof, so not so practial on a boat. Will the Gray lenses come out of their frame? If so you could buy the material and make them yourself. Using the right bit in a router and the old lens as the pattern makes this easy.

No way to make your own unless you own a plastic

pattern company. And here is just the company you need. But I would order the lenses from Defender or Fisheries in Seattle. http://www.pompanette.com/pompweb.nsf/a0e2253b23a1a536852567ae003c83a9/585eff1909ef5b77852567af0018a2aa?OpenDocument
