I would like to clean the pop top cover (Winter cover?), for my '83 Catalina 25. The white vinyl outside is in great shape, but the canvas/cloth underside is mold-spotted in places. Has anyone washed one of these in the "commercial" front-loading washing machines at the laundromat? And if so, what detergent is best used? Or do I lay the thing out, spray the mold-spotted side with Tilex or something similar and hose it? I want it clean, but I do not want to damage it in any way as it appears to be original equipment. I cleaned the cover on my C22 poptop by laying it out on my deck and cleaning it with Simple Green. By the way it gets hot here in the summer so we had a sailmaker remove the plastic "windows" on the cover and replace them with screening. She also made the "door" part into screening. It is very pleasant now with breezes coming through the cabin when we have the poptop up.
