Catalina 22 Henderson Bay, NY
I purchased a used 22, and I am now cleaning her up. I would like to know what people use to clean the non-skid deck. I do not think I should use the wax that I am using on the hull. Looking forward to all answers. Dale

non skid cleaning

When I bought my Catalina 22 the deck was very dirty... I spread out a non-skid cleaner I bought at boaters world and let it sit for a little bit. Then I used a power washer on the wide spray setting and it came out awesome. You have to be careful using the power washer though, especially around any teak as it will remvoe the pith from the in between the grains of the wood.

Here's an environmentaly safe product

A friend of mine told me to use baking soda. Especially when you are in the slip. The baking soda is a gentle abrasive. I just dump a bucket of water on the area that I intend to clean, then sprinle some Baking soda, be generous, it's cheap. Use a sponge or soft bristle brush, then rinse with a couple of buckets of water. Move on to the next area. The non-skid will be extra grippy,(I just made that word up) ;) The gelcoat of the cleaned area will have a lot of the haze from UV rays cleaned away, and makes older boats look newer!
