Cleaning fabric hull liner

Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning the foam-backed fabric hull liner on my 23?

Mine has been replaced

The previous owner of my OD27 ripped out the old burlap-type liner and replaced it with a medium blue short pile carpet. Our OD25 had the same type of liner that we never replaced, and always had trouble keeping clean.(I'm not sure if your 23 uses a similar burlap material) I prefer the carpet; it hides stains better and makes the cabin seem more cozy.As for cleaning the hull-liner, I would only use a mild detergent (like Snowy non-chlorine bleach) and probably not use any kind of power cleaner. The headliner material is glued to the foam backing, which is glued to the inner hull surface. If you disturb the bond between the layers, or use a strong cleaner that starts to dissintigrate the foam, the liner may begin to wrinkle and sag.Good Luck!

hull liner

had the same problem . replaced it with a beige carpet with a short nap. drilled holes and screwed it in place butted against the lip by the hull deck joint and on the lower sill behind the backrest(and just to the bottom edge in the v berth) after using a leather punch to punch holes in the carpet. take your time and cut to fit as you go. took me about 4 hours but the boat looked great. i also got rid of the so called back rests at the same time and simply put some stained trim in with brass screws . it makes the berths better for sleeping and helps to give a warm look . i also varnished the interior. i sold the boat but had i kept it the next project was to move the portapotti to the starbard side( getting rid of the hanging locker and extending the v berth to the bulkhead on the port side . and reshaping the knee to make room to sleep comfortably. good luck and enjoy a great little boat.
