Cleaning connector contacts

hello all,i wanted to see if anyone has come up with a spiffy way of cleaning the contacts (both male and female) on the mast lighting connector located on the top of the cabin (H23.5, 240, 25.5, & 260's).my lighting works but the contacts are so contaminated with oxidation and corrosion that they don't make connection when fully mated. if i can get them cleaned and working then i will probably try sealing them (rubber tape or marine sealant) until the next time i drop the mast (the boat is generally kept in the water).any good ideas would be much appreciated. happy sailing - ed

Electrical contacts

Ed, Rick is right. I tried everything from spitting on them to dielectric grease. Just replace them. BUT, It's hard to find a three pronged plug (if that is what you have). I can't remember where I got mine. Call West Marine or maybe the people at Hunter can give you a lead. If I rememeber or find the package I'll post the address.PaulHS/V Linda Belle95 H26

Radio Shack contact cleaner

I give mine a shot of contact cleaner that I bought at Radio Shack, each year. Like most contacts, the best way to keep them clean is to mate and un-mate them frequently. But the contact cleaner is a good second choice.Rob"Kinship"
