Do most of you just let the barnacles build up on the bottom of your keel between haul-outs, or is there some magic way to sweep them away? We dive, and have cleaned the prop, but are unsure how to tackle the keel without taking off the paint. What type of tool do you use, or do you pay someone else to do it? Thanks for any and all replies.

Up here in the north we haul out for the winter. During spring commissioning we paint as much as we can and leave a small container of bottom paint and disposable brush beside the keel which the yard uses to finish up the painting when they haul it to launching. You don't always get a spiffy job and sometimes it goes in wet, but it helps somewhat
