cleaner for algae on aluminum spreaders

I would think living in Pt Roberts you would have come to grips with moss and algae by now.

Not sure a spray is the way to go. Perhaps a light scrub with a 3M pad would be better. Anything you spray up in the air is going to fall mostly on the boat and surrounding area. Non of which would enjoy the chemicals you need to use to attack the algae.

Are you taking the mast down for this task?

Spray it on a rag, then wipe it on the area... then fresh water rinse. Any type of cleaner with acid will allow you to wipe the algae off easily. I like your basic generic toilet bowl cleaner, such is available for about $7/quart at Smart&Final. Check the label... Hydrochloric acid is common. So is Oxalic. Don't use the bleach kind.

Painted mine three years ago, now someone has to go up there. We've been using lemon juice and vinegar on most algae on the lines and it works well enough.
