Is there a recommended procedure for keeping the Wema s4ending units from getting stuck? Someone had suggested adding detergent to the tank, but I wonder if that works and if it will interfere with the K.O. process. Thanks

Only thing I know that works is...

Removing and cleaning. You can try a little detergent--just a little, though, or you'll have suds all over the place!...It shouldn't interfer with K.O. Btw...it's a common problem with the Wema senders. Human waste contains animal fats, which clog 'em.

Replacement Unit

Wema makes a replacement unit that allows the sensor to be backflushed as a cleaning techneque, without removing the sensor.

Has anyone tried it, Jim?

And does it work? 'Cuz I'm not sure that just back-flushing alone is enough to do the job. Not only are there animal fats to contend with, but also urine crystals and calcium carbonates from sea water that build up in hoses and can certainly do so on a sender. So I'd like to hear a few success stories of any of these replacement senders that are more than a few months old.

Works so Far

But I just put in the replacement sensor last year. So let me test it for a while.
