We recently experienced a holding tank hose separated from a fitting just at a level that allowed 'grey water' to be released into a sail locker and find its way thru to the bilges while sailing. The holding tank hadn't any solid waste in it this year and had been fresh water rinsed several weeks ago, however there was probably some 'OdorLoos'plus urine and Bay water flushes.I found and fixed the loose hose clamp; sprayed bleachy type cleaner throughout the sail locker and adjacent areas that appeared wet; took a lot of 'stuf' off the boat and cleaned everything, following with fresh water hose rinse thru the sail locker and into the bilge.Comming back the following weekend, I wasn't satisfied that I had done all I could. I spray bleached and scrubbed the sail locker, adjacent wet locker and the entire head compartment. I added a liberal dose of Simple Green to the sail locker and rinsed it thru the visible hull areas including using a dockside hose to liberally rinse out the floor grid from an access point at the sail locker floor access. The Simple Green foamed all thru the bilges and under the floor boards and used a wet vacuum to pick up and dump a dozen 2 gallon loads of the soapy rinse water vacuumed out of the bilge and underfloor areas.I'm reluctant to create a chemical soup by adding something more to the bleachy cleaner and Simple Green treatments which I think I have adequately rinsed out.Is there anything more I should consider doing to avoid odors and mildew?
