I have used a product call hull cleaner by Starbrite. It has worked impressively well for me.

If you follow Maine Sail’s finishing protocol, you will get a great result. Lots of hard work; however, it’s worth the effort. No deviation allowed; make sure that you use the recommended supplies & equipment. You are not going to get a good result with a bottle of soap & wax.

Before you start on Maine Sail's process... make sure you get all of the mold and mildew off of the hull. I really like this stuff..

On first glance it is just a 5% bleach solution but there is also some TSP and a propriatary surfactant. I've tried making a homemade version and it does not work as well. I suspect the surfactant that is the namebrand is a quaternary amine instead of a sulfate detergent. Anyway. Spray this on any mildew and mold stains, let it sit, then rince it well.
