Chrysrler 26 rudder assembly

My chrysrler 26 fin keel has a rudder wich moves up and down about an inch. Two separate divers have suggested adding a spacer to hold it in place. Has anyone had this issue?

Yes, the bearing looks like PVC pipe. Not a good solution. You could add a spacer/washer out of Delrin, however, I would look for a new upper and lower bearing. Try Tides Marine to start, https://www.tidesmarine.com

Thanks for your response I took your advice: found the upper and lower bearings and ordered them.
