Chop a mast

Does anyone know if I can chop a mast from a Catalina Tall rig (41'10")to fit my standard rig 40'0". The reason is my mast is need of a paint job plus repairs to stop the corrosion. I found a mast from a C30 tall rig that went on the beach in a storm. The owner was only able to save the mast and its in great shape. I can get the mast real cheap ($300). If I can chop the mast do I take it off the top & move the mast head down? Will this mean I need to move the spreaders also? Help & thanks

It doesn't look like there are any mast experts out there -- I'm sure not one, but I don't see why this couldn't be done, the C-30 mast is a straight, non-tapered extrusion. I'm sure a phone call to Catalina will tell you all you need to know. Who knows, your call may even be answered by Frank Butler himself.

Catalina 30 mast needed

We are in need of a Catalina 30 mast (standard rig) ,boom and sails here on the coast of North Carolina.
