The Sippy cup is coming up for the night of aug 1 into the morning of the 2nd. It's a family friendly race from Havre De Grace to Annapolis. There are 3 classes. Sippy (smaller boats) and Big Gulp for the larger ones. Still time to enter and it's a fun overnight event. I'll try to post details if there is any interest. I believe this is the 6th or 7th year.

You don't have to be a racer to join. Just someone who wants to be part of an event and enjoy some new friends. This is my second year and am blowing a reunion off because it's that much fun. No spinnakers, it's a handicap race all in fun. Were past the early entry discount but I think it's still around $30 to join. Pizza and fun at the end

hey Doc ... I would love to go to the sippy cup race, but I have to work... my vacation isn't until September... my boat is at Chesapeake right now too, in the Elizabeth river... I need to do some sailing right now.... my boat here at home is on the dry... it has been on the dry ever since I got it.... I am rebuilding it on the trailer in the driveway...

I hope you take lots of pictures and post them on here for us all to see... maybe next year I can be there for it...

hello all

Doc - I wish I could... no sick days allowed at my work... if I called n sick and wasn't in the hospital, I would get fired... the rail road doesn't believe people get sick..

I will be in Chesapeake at the end of august getting ready to sail to Florida in September... if your in the area, I would like to meet up with you and buy you a beer or something....

I would enjoy meeting you and cuscus around there... the 1st and 2nd round are on me

hope to see you both there

sincerely
Jess

At my company, doctor's excuses are not accepted. If you're well enough to go to the doctor, you're well enough to come to work. And the only funeral you can take time off for is your own. And you have to give two weeks notice.

Last year I put in at Havre De Grace Marina. It will take 15-20 minutes to get to the start from there because there is a shallow part in the bay between it. This is where I will launch this year.

If you want more info, go to:

I hope you consider it.

I know a lot of people who go down to St. Mary's to join the racers at the finish line. It is a big event and a huge party. One of these days I am going to make it to this event. I dread the heat of August cruising in the Chesapeake Bay, a hot anchorage, and probably the black fly or mosquito plague.

You may be referring to the governors cup which is held at the same time. Different course and finish location.

Yep...Governor's cup. I want to get to that part since it is in the Potomac (about 30 nautical miles from me).

I have heard of the Sippy Cup too.

Screw Pile would also be a fun destination to make for the post race parties. I remember racing it back in the 90s.
