Chesapeake Rendezvous Rumors

The Chesapeake Bay Hunter Rendezvous is in its last day. I had a chance to drive down to Solomons, MD to check out the goings on (just call me Boatless Burrows). I was able to get re-aquainted with some of the folks I'd met at previous Rendezvouses and Happy HOW folks. I want to thank the folks that put up with this sail bum, offered tours of their boats, and rides for the race. That being said, I picked up a few rumors, stories, and lies that are worth sharing. You decide which are which. A certain America's Cup wannabee became the object of a certain female sailor's interest during a stirring lecture. Apparently this resulted in more audience participation than expected. Shooters were, of course, involved. The only non-attributable quote available is "You sure are a cute little feller." One particular size boat dominated the Hunter Cup Race (Call it the Coffee Class) However, only one of them did NOT have a roller furling main. Realizing the distinct disadvantage they were at,the rest of the Coffee Class hatched a plot to team up against the faster rival. Unfortunately, the plot was undone when the conspirators tried to block the wind of the full batten main boat by putting up their biminis, dodgers, banners, flags, towels, sheets, and unidentified laundry. One particularly large boat (actually several) lost to a particularly small boat (didn't even have an outboard) even though the small boat started very late. No rum was served to anyone. (this is the lie referenced earlier.) A certain Hunter Dealer is in denial about running aground the new boat of a particularly good-looking, witty, charming, former HunterOwner during its maiden voyage. This particular HunterOwner was hoping to do this himself. To make up for it, the HunterOwner hung the side of his boat by the rubrail on the trailer guideposts...Then pulled it out of the water....Proving with a crash that an H26 can sustian a fall from 18 inches. That's all that I have on the Rendezvous. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Markdb The guilt guilty know who they are.

Little Hunter was 3rd but unrated

The little Hunter was third over the line and started midway in the sequence, maybe 7-8 min after the gun. Since it is new, the committee could not rate it. But is was sailed well and fast (I think by a dealer...hmmm.)
