My schooner, the Susan B. Merryman, is doing great in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for a boat her size. She's on the heels of Virginia and not far behind the Pride of Baltimore.

I think Virginia must be towing the Susan B. Merryman.

1330:

The wind is spreading the fleet out by waterline length but I'm still proud of my little schooner.

2105:

She hasn't reported in for hours. I have no idea what is going on.

She's a pretty little schooner! The sail set between the topmasts is unfamiliar to me. Well, all gaff rigged or square rigged or intermediate stay flown sails are unfamiliar to me, but that one more so.
Care to illuminate?

The sail set between the topmasts is unfamiliar to me.

Fisherman staysail. It's set flying from the deck and taken in and re-hoisted when changing course to bring the wind from one side to the other.

I see that that the Susan B. Merryman won her class again.
