Does anyone know if Cherubini designed yachts for other manufacturers? The Catalina 25' (circa 1981) looks suspiciously like the Hunter 25'.

Geez, I hope not.

Just kidding. But I do like that my Hunter is a safe and solid Cherubini with no competition. In the six years on this site I have never heard that. Hopefully JC II will put this to rest.

"looks suspiciously "

Mark: Looks suspiciously is your key words. I think that is the ONLY thing that they have or have ever had in common. Catalina is a very traditional mfg. There boats have not changed much over the years until lately. Their new boats now have much more freeboard and many changes to are going with the industry flow. For better or for worse!

"looks suspiciously like Hunter 25" to who?

Sorry Mark, but they do not look similar to me. The Hunter 25 (like all the Cherubini designed Hunters) has a pretty wine glass stern. The Catalina 25 has a stern like the Catalina 22 wide, flat and round. Unlike the Hunter 25, the rudder hangs off the stern of the Catalina 25. The Catalina 25 has a longer waterline. The Catalina 25 has a lower profile cabin top. Like the Catalina 22 the C25 has a pop top. The Catalina 25 went into production in 1978. The same year Hunter introduced the 37C. The Hunter 25 was introduced in 1973. I doubt John Cherubini designed the Catalina 25.
