Would anyone recommend one or the other? Also, could anyone recommend a specific chemical stripper?

Don't think sandblasting is a good idea.

Jim: I personally do not think that SAND blasting is a good idea. Soda blasting is much gentler. I have only heard good things about peel-away. Being that I have never done it, I cannot tell you how much work it is. What is the reason that you want to strip the bottom anyway?

see my response to your other post.

I responded to your other post but after seeing Steve's, I thought I better point out that the sandblasting that the service manager warned me about was using corn-cobbs, which he said was the mildest abrasive that they use.

Peel-Away is GREAT STUFF

Just did Peel-Away with great success. Put it on the night before and strip the next day. I tried Interlux and Pettit and didn't like either one of those. Just put it on THICK (1/8"+) It's a LOT of work pushing the scraper and then finish sanding but it looks good. BTW My 81 H-33 has BLUE gelcoat under all of that paint. Ernie S/V Cindy Lou

Yes to Peel Away

Peel Away is the way to go. Read the instructions and put it on as thick as possible. Then wait. It really works. Thin coats do not work well with it. You'll probably need 1/3 more than the specs call for. You may run out of cover paper too.
