I am almost finished redoing the interior of my 1974 Venture 25 and I would like to keep mold out of the interior. We will keep it at the sailing marina most of the year and here in Alabama it gets pretty humid.

I have searched and read about folks on the forum who have had good results with the small solar vent fans. I was thinking about buying one of these inexpensive ones, because we are keeping this boat on a pretty low budget.

I know folks recommend the expensive ones that you buy at the marine stores, but I was wondering if anyone had bought one of these and if they are worth the $25. I know the old adage "You get what you pay for..." so please don't post that. I have had good luck in the past with inexpensive solutions so I was curious if anyone has any experience with one of these or another inexpensive option that has worked for you.

I have read about your set-up while researching before I made this post. It is interesting and sounds very functional... What I am not clear on after reading several of your posts is: Are they mounted on the deck? How do you keep the water out? Do you have any pictures or details?

I am actually thinking about buying two of these and mounting one in the forward hatch in the V-berth and one just mounted in the head area directly to the cabin top. I was going to mount passive vents in the vertical companion way hatch just as air inlets.

Thanks for the reply.

I have Nicro water trap cowl vents and mounted the fans inside in the cabin.

just MHO..... i would think one should treat the deck of their boat with equal respect as you would the bottom....meaning that a lot of your saftey and fun depends on the deck as well as the bottom ...so if you are putting holes in the deck use good hardware....and you can find some good things on e bay along with buying from marine supplers ...just be well informed about the products you are looking for and dont let the price control your better judgement ....i look at e bay every day and some times i find some sweet deals ....but most of all i learn a heck of a lot by surfing the site ...if i see some thing i am not up on i start to search and learn what i can ....and some times i have to ask on here about things i am not sure of ...and as usual the people here are very shareing with info ...haveing said that i will say that in time i will be able to share things on here as well

regards

I think the biggest concern here might be: Do these things have a built in dorade function? Or would you have to combine them, as Ross said, with additional water traps? You will have to factor in that cost as well.

Look good to me.... Let us know how it goes......
Just an FYI, I just bought a video cam charger shipped from China for 10.00
That price included shipping. In the states, it was 65.00.
I received it in 7 days and it works great.
It's a shame.

Some day you will get your decks washed whether you like it or not. You don't want your bunks wet at the same time.
