I have been using self charging LED yard spot lights on my boat for over a year now with great results. The lights are $10 from Wal-Mart for use in your yard as spot lights. I mounted 2 pieces of 3/4 inch pvc about 6 inches long to bow stachions and slip the lights in these pipes to charge during the day. In the cabin I have mounted the same type of holders and we put the lamps in them at night. They are very bright and great for reading or whatever. This is way cheaper than batteries, LED bulbs and all the other gear for lights. For $20 it lights both cabins in the boat.

Cool. I'm liking these led strip lights on my boat:

They can be cut to length. I put a strip under the gunwale ledge on each side of the cabin. I'm also using this dimmer (one for each side):

The complete light strip uses 22 watts. On my boat, the shorter strip mounted on the starboard side uses around 6 watts, the longer strip on the port side uses around 10 watts (on high). Make sure you get the "warm white" strips.
