Florida Yacht Charter Ownership Program
Re: Florida Yacht ChartersIn response to Howard Kornack’s comment regarding Florida Yacht Charters, I feel compelled to respond: My family and I have been the proud owners of Florida Yacht Charters & Sales, Inc. for over 18 years. We have been selling, chartering and managing yachts continuously during this time. We have consistently been one of Hunter Marine’s top dealers nationwide for over 12 years in terms of sales and service. In addition, over 70% of our charter clients have chosen to charter with us repeatedly, several times per year; year after year. I have also personally chartered yachts from other companies all over the world, including Greece, Italy and the Carribbean. I believe I have a fairly good idea, both as a charter guest and a charter manager, to know what constitutes a well-maintained charter yacht.Occasionally, a charter boat may return from a recent voyage in less than “pristine” condition. It’s our job to clean it, repair it and get it back out earning income for its owners as quickly as possible. Charter boats, in general, get more “wear and tear” than do some privately owned boats, that are more likely to stay dockside. However, the trade-off is that charter boat owners experience significant tax advantages; unlimited personal use of their boats; a systematic maintenance program and monthly income that helps the owner’s pay for their boats. In fact, it is not uncommon for a charter boat owner to have a boat in our charter fleet program for five years; sell it at a decent profit; and then turn around and purchase another, larger boat to place back into our charter ownership program. In addition, while it’s true we prefer to have only new boats in our fleet (most of our charter yachts are under five years old); we do not make unrealistic promises just to sell boats. Charter ownership is not for everyone, but for many owners, it does make financial sense and the “goodies” they receive, in terms of legitimate tax breaks and additional income, sure works for them!
