Anybody have any thoughts on positioning a chart plotter. I am planning to put a Raymarine Rayhart 520 plotter on my 326. However, I am not sure whether to put in down bwlow or on the binacle in the cockpit. Given that it is a monchrome display it should be visible even in sunlight. However, will it really be waterproof. Or would it be better to place it down below near the chart table. Does anyone have any previous experiences with locating plotters. Thanks Melvin

Where it does most good.

Melvin. A chart plotter will do it's best for you in the cockpit. You don't want to run below when you are in close quarters. Besides, the best way to learn to use it is to have it in front of you. If you are concerned about moisture, most of those units can handle splashing, rain, etc. But you can also have a clear cover made to put over it.

At The Wheel

I wouldn't have mine anywhere else but at the top of the pedestal. I use it as a constant reference when traveling on the ICW with my 320. From a protection standpoint, I have a full bimini, dodger, and connector between the two which stays up all of the time. I also have a full cover for my wheel and pedestal when away from the boat. In the Cockpit

We bought our 376 used, and the Chartplotter was in the cabin. As a result we use it to pull the locations for markers and put them into our handheld we use in the cockpit. Hey Paul how was the rest of your summer. Nice to see you. RREgge S/V Allie Kat

Thanks

Thanks for the responses everyone. It seems there is agreement that the best place is in the cockpit. Thanks again
