Looking to replace the original equipment Raymarine RC 435 chartplotter on our 2007 Hunter 31. The current unit is functioning with it old Gold card but I am moving the boat to Michigan and I am concerned that purchasing a new $200 chart card for the area may not work. Maybe it't time to upgrade the technology. I am looking for something that will plug and play with my current Raymarine Sea Talk cabling. Any advise is appreciated.

I like the new Axiom plotters by Raymarine. Get a seatalk1 to SeatalkNG adapter to communicate with your legacy instruments.

I had the same idea when my C-70 failed and looking at what I have and need it didn't matter what unit I got I needed to change seatalk to the new network, Looking at Ray and with the new chip and adapter it was more that getting a Garmin 840xs and adapter as the Garmin unit came with a chip for the sailing area and I only needed the adapter. Also the 840 came with a depth transducer, I now use the Ray unit as forward scanner.

Thanks but what is a forward scanner? I though your C-70 failed. Appreciate the replies. Jerry

Yes the C-70 failed but the St60 was still working, forward scan is just that I mounted the St60 transducer up to the bow that at a angle to get any target ahead of the bow and used the new unit as the primary depth unit in the old st60 spot, all done without adding any holes.

We also have the old 435 and the slow loading each time it loads a new chart, as well as just slow processing, makes me crazy. New charts aren't a problem (in fact I did update them last year), but I'd love to move out of the stone age. Our old ST60 is failed and I haven't convinced myself to fork out the money to refit.

Used PCV pipe mounted to the haul then dropped the ray transducer into it just to hold it in place. Did the same thing years ago on a Mac 26d.
