Charleston sailors- bottom paint recommendation needed

Hello. I put a coat of petit ablative on my boat in august. She is now covered with a layer of small barnies
Gonna pull her tomorrow and scrape them off sometime this week.

I’m in the Ashley … what have you had success with in these waters?

How often do you clean the bottom?

When we were in St Augustine we learned that moving water promotes bottom growth. The 2 marinas by the Bridge of Lions experience strong tidal currents. We had the bottom cleaned and 3 weeks later we could only get our boat up to 2 knots because of all the growth.

The Ashley River has a fair amount of current and is rich with nutrients from up stream. Rapid bottom growth is likely a fact of life. After leaving St. Aug we had the bottom redone with Micron 66. After 3 months it was still clean although it did not spend any time in strong river or tidal currents.
