Charity Fun! Bring Your Boat! Submitted by Butch Berchem of Lake Norman NC on 03/04 at 07:51AM regarding General_interest. Calling on all Trailerable owners to bring their boats to Lake Norman, NC. May 4th through the 6th, for the most fun relaxed sailing event in the SE. The "Pursuit Of Sailing Regatta" is in it's fourth year. Last year we had 56 boats enter to raise $$ for the Chuck Strange Foundation. What is the Chuck Strange Fopundation? It works closely with the local YMCA and the Charlotte Center For Rehabilitation for adaptive sailing. They so far have three boats with handicap controls to sail here localy. The Pursuit of Sailing Regatta is meant to be a family fun regatta. Challenging enough for the the most tested skipper and enjoyable for the novice too. How is this done? By using the pursuit format we start boats according to their handicaps on the front end. No more crowded starting lines. The slowest boat (by rating) starts first and the fastest starts last. This event is hosted by the Lake Norman, Outrigger and Peninsula Yacht Clubs of Lake Norman. Outrigger will have a welcoime party on May 4th and skippers meeting. Following Saturdays race, Doyle Sailmakers / Select Yachts will host the Saturday night party and the Peninsula Yacht Club will hold the after race part and awards presentation on Sunday afternoon. Please contact us for further infomation, we canm send you a notice of race and all the details. We would love to see a great gathering of trailerable Sailboats this year. We will help you with launching ramps and help to find you accomodations if need be. Help us to make the 4th running of this event the largest event in the SE. contact doylenc@cs.com 704-483-6656
