Disconnect the battery and check the voltage under a 'no load' condition. If it is less than 12 volts you may have a bad cell and need to replace the battery. After ten minutes of sitting idle check it again to see if it has changed substantially, 1 volt or more. If it reads higher you may have a charging problem. If it is lower you definitely have a battery problem. If the terminal lug on the end of the cable seems to have corrosion or just some blackening of the wire around where it is crimped you may have some resistance building up. Resistance anywhere in the charging circuit will cut the effective charging voltage down. Have new lugs crimped onto the wires and be sure to use some grease or corrosion preventive gel on the terminals too.

is very low. The engine is a MD7 and the alternator has been checked.
The postive cable seems very black when the cover is remoed.
Any suggestions?
