I've read lots of info on forums - some conflicting. So now I know EVEN less. I'm replacing a Guest 2610 dual bank onboard charger wired through the Perko switch with a Pro Mariner 12 which according to the factory is not recommended for switches, but must go directly to the batteries. I've got two group 24 deep cycle batteries. Can i simply put the Pro Mariner leads to the battery terminals on top of the leads from the Perko? It doesn't seem like there's a conflict with the alternator since the charger is unplugged from shore power while the engine is running, or is that even an issue? Or is going through the Perko important? Any info on a more appropriate charger and how to wire it through the Perko would be appreciated.
