Changing the sidestay mounting position

On my 311, the trailing edge of my jib touches the lower sidestay when sheeted in all the way. It seems to me that if I changed the lower sidestay mounting position/chainplate with the upper sidestay chainplate, which is 6” further aft, that the sail wouldn’t touch. Do you think this would cause any undue pressure or shift in force vectors that it shouldn’t be done?

Changing the lower shroud attachment point in itself probably wouldn't cause an issue by itself, but where do you intend to attach the upper shrouds. I certainly wouldn't suggest attaching both the uppers and the lowers to the same point. I am presuming that you are considering switching the uppers to the original lower location? Does the 311 truly have chain plates, or like other Benes are they U bolts anchored through the toe rails?

I would switch them, so that they each had their own mount. It is a U bolt as I recall. Would that make a difference? Thank you,
