Call me crazy, but I have a 2001 Hunter 320 which they put in the 18hp Yanmar. Other than that I love this boat. Is there anyone who has changed out this engine for something more powerful? Is it doable / feasible? It seems that all of the boats in the length now have something more powerful. thanks!

I hear you skipper

We also have the 18HP engine and are aware how underpowered the boat is. We have found that the alternative to repowering is to use the sails more to help out the engine. Because of it we have become more adept at sailing in and out of our dock and handling the boat under sail in tigh quarters. If you bear with it the boat will make you a better sailor. A repower is very feasible but will be quite costly also. We are very lucky where we are that we do not have to fight strong currents but I can understand how frustrating it may be to have to schedule your departures or arrivals for slack or favorable tide as you may not be able to sail or buck an opposing current. I guess if had a problem like that I would change boats rather than repower the 320.
