Changing Halyards?

I have a bosuns chair and was wondering how to change my halyards on my I 28? They are old thats the reason for me wanting to change them so I wouldnt want to just hoist myself up on somethin that I feel might not hold my 240lbs? And I wanted to add some downward facing led's on the spredder? Do any of you live in the Houston area? If you offer me a hand Ill by the beer!

You don't have to go up the mast to change a halyard. Sew, tape or paperclip the end of the old halyard to the new one and simply pull it through. Besides, you need the halyards to hoist the bosun's chair.... one to lift, the other to back up. Since you're hefty, I recommend adding extra purchase rather than putting all the load on the winch... even with a two speed winch it's tough grinding up a big guy. Although it was kind of bouncy(nylon rope), I used a length of my 3/8 anchor rode run through a 4:1 mainsheet tackle to give my helper a break.

I'm a bit late here, but if you still need some help I could be available if there's beer involved! Seriously, I'm at Watergate and can help if you need it. BTW, I'm about 135lbs.
