Just need some help? I lost my slip here in Hilo Hawaii and now I have to trailer my Hunter 25' and take the mast down. I have sailed several times trailering and mast lowering but......it is a pain setting up the furling system with the jib slot all the time. I am at the point of just replacing my furling with a standard wire setup and use my old jib. Need help with either changing or some system to keep my headsail furled and still raise and lower the mast fore trailering. I could get a slip up from the bridge and keep my mast lowered but I would have to raise and lower the mast anyway to get under the bridge. Raising and lowering is not the problem...I have to take the jib from the furler each time I sail...and thats the pain. Anyone know of a system that would keep my headsail in place and raise and lower my mast? (Hopefully Im making sense?) I need my jib halyard to raise and lower the mast so, how do I that and maintain my jib in the furler??? (am I missing something simple?)

When I bought my 2008 Hunter 25, the previous owner had a line sercured to the top of the mast with two clamps. It was used to raise and lower the mast. The line was the correct distance for it. You would just have to ensure that it was secure and could not break or .

I am going to assume it is the newer style Hunter 25 with the mast raise system which I introduced to Hunter many years ago. If I am correct, is it a hunter 25 in tthe 2000 or later years??? In addiiton, what furling system do you have? If Not CDI, the name of the system and is it flexible? From there I can respond.

On my H26, I have a Profurl. I leave the jib on the furler when I raise and lower my mast. I use the jib halyard for the jib, and my spin halyard to raise and lower my mast. BrianW

At one time Hunter used the CDI system which I introduced to them but they probably got a better price. What I like about the CDI, it is one long plastic extrusion whereas if I am correct, the Hood is a two part system that has to be put together and when lowereing the mast, the two halfs have a tendacy to move. The CDI does not move as it is only one section and can bend easier.

Anyway, I worked with both. Before, I go any further, do you have the manual with the boat and did you read the section of mast raising? In addition, have your researched the forum any at all. Let me know.

Dave,
I do have the original manuel for the boat on the mast raising with the ginpole. (which is no problem raising and lowering with the ginpole) I also have the SeaFlex instructions. I have not researched the forum for any help. My email if you would like or make it easier to communicate. kamanodental@aol.com.

Mahalo for your help
