Hi everyone, I sail at Poole Harbour and the Solent here in England. I own a Wayfarer dinghy which was built in 1979 and which is in lovely condition. recently, I have decided to test sail a WWP 15, for sailing around the Solent with the Dinghy Sailing Association. Selling Naomi will be a sad day for me, but my passion for the WWP is growing. Are there any DCA members out there? What do you think? Jim

I say go for it.

The WWP 15 will not be quite as sporty (wet) as the Wayfarer (if it is like the one linked to here: http://www.boatlinks.co.uk/dinghy_sailing/index.html ) but you will be cruising more rather than day sailing, hence the DCA (Dinghy Cruising Ass'n) question. There is nearly 4' of headroom in the cabin and having a motor should increase your cruising range. I have been told that the Solent is a bit like the Long Island Sound that I sometimes sail on although a bit larger and possibly larger tidal ranges. Max tidal range on the LI Sound is about 8'. Not sure what it is on the Solent. You must feel pretty chuffed with yourself. You can do a weekend trip to France on the WWP if you are feeling brave! Enjoy!

Hi Jim Here in the western Colonies (San Francisco Bay Area California USA) There is a large group of Potter Sailers. If you look on the Web for [Trailer Sailor.com] you can follow their travels. Every Wed. they sail in the Oakland Estuary and then go and have lunch at a local resturant. You will enjoy the Potter 15 as these boaters do. There is a Magazine for small boaters that is published in Port Townsend, Washington USA, it is printed for small boat Yachters. The Address of the Magazine office is P.O. Box 1343 Port Townsend Washington USA 98368 Phone (360) 379-1930. There is a web site for them too, WWW.smallcraftadvisor.com. I receive the magazine,it has a lot of good tips and articals. I have a Catalina 22 or it is known as a Jaguar 22. Be Safe AL
