I have a question to Beneteau 50 owners re changing/swapping a deep keel..7'7''.. for a 5'11' keel. has anyone on the forum been through this exercise?. I need to have access to shallow cruising grounds..

Don't know where you plan on going, but 5-11 is not shallow draft in SW Florida or the Keys.

I have cruised the Keys, western Cuba, down to Panama , through the Canal and across to Australia with 5'11'' keel [Beneteau 50] . That boat sold, now have 7'7'' and
want to get 5'11' on current B50. hence the question.

I would check with Benteau parts in Carolina. Keels are available on their parts website.
I had the a fin keel swapped to a shoal draft on a Catalina I used to own before I moved to Florida. Its was not cheap.

I bet Beneteau can offer some advise, their parts department is very good.

There is a company up your way that can make a keel to order. One plan is to cut the bottom off of your keel, send in the footprint, and they will make a wing to bolt on. Sorry, the name of the company escapes me, but i'm sure someone knows it?
