Brion - I just had a chainplate snap below the washer-weld at the rigging connection. The current chainplate is 1/8" thick, and with the washer-welds, it brings the thickness to 5/16+" at the connection. If I thicken the chainplate to 1/4" and eliminate any washer-welds, will the 1/16+" reduced thickness at the connection cause any stress problem with the clevis pin?

Hello, If I understand you correctly, you want to eliminate the welded-on washers and thicken the chainplates. But what size wire are we talking about, and what size clevis pin? If the wire is bigger than 1/8", it should have had a thicker chainplate to begin with; we want to start from scratch, and get it right this time. Which means we also want to be sure that the wire is the right size. With that information in hand, we can proceed to specifying proper pin size, radius, and chainplate thickness. Let's get some more details, okay? Fair leads, Brion Toss
