I really like the looks and specs of a 2006 Hunter 44DS I am thinking of buying and would like to know from all 44AC and 44DS owners the following:
1. Have you had any chainplate recalls or any cracks or leaks coming from the chainplate area?
2. Has any of your windows leaked and if so which ones and how did you fix them?
3. Have you found many spider cracks or worse in the deck or cockpit areas? If so were they just cosmetic or structural and what did you do to fix them?
4. Has the rubber surrounding the deck to hull joint stayed intact over the years and did you notice any leaks at that joint anywhere along that joint?
5. Selden had an inspection go out for bulging in the mast near the boom to mast connection area possibly do to an overload at that section from electric winches loading the boom into the mast too much. Have you had a bulge in your mast in that area and if so what is being done to correct it?
6. I am pretty sure the keel on the 2006 boats are lead. Do you know if any other years of the 44DS have used cast iron in lieu of lead like Hunter is now using on the new 45DS?
7. Have any of the fiberglass fairings that overhang the front and side salon windows on the outside of the boat ever come off from blue water or high winds? They do not look like they are secured too good? If they did come off, what damage was done and did water get into the salon area?
8. Has any of the keel bolts leaked and if so what was done to correct the leak?
9. Anthing else I should be aware of before I purchase the 44DS would be appreciated?
Thanks for your help,
Ray
