I am currently looking at a couple of H-30's, one a 1979 and the other a 1981. The chainplates on the 1981 don't look like anything I've seen on other Hunters. There are 2 steel rods, look like aboyt 1/4" dia., one vertical and the other angled towards the bow. They both are in front of storage rail. Right now I'm only going by photos of the boat, have not seen it in person, yet. Are these the standard chainplates?

I have been on many Cherubini Hunters. I don't remember any having chainplates that were not exactly like mine. Three stainless bars per side for the upper and two lower shrouds. They are attached to glassed in knees so that the flat of the bar is positioned athwartship as seen in the picture. Hunter did use rod chainplates on later models like the H34.

I better explain this in more detail, where the chainplates go through the deck they look like the standard flat SS bar that extends a short distance into the cabin, then the round rod attaches and continues down behind the seatback.

Are the stainless plates bolted to the knee? Or is it just bolted to a rod? The two 30 I have owned had them bolted to the knee just like my 37c. My 78 30 did have a knee come loose , had to retab. Maybe the PO had added a strut down to a new knee?

Picture of atachment.

The pic's are in a word doc and I was not able to save the picture as a jpeg. The chainplates are the same on each side. I have only seen these pic's , I have not traveled to see the boat yet.

I just looked at your photo. The rods are the same as in my 82 Hunter 30 (see photo above). Actually there are three rods. The third rod can be seen in the hanging locker.
