Chainplate replacement

i need to replace the chainplates for my beneteau oceanis 352 from 1995. Does anyone know where i can order these original chainplates?

For rare parts I work with Annapolis yacht sales. The local beneteau dealer. They can get most stuff and are better at looking the the French parts manual, but be prepared to be unpleasantly surprised by the price.

The Beneteau parts site shows a tie rod chainplate, part # 027226, for $498.42. I think that fits tnathan's "unpleasantly surprised" warning--or at least it would for me!

Sounds typical. If you are local you can also try walking in with the part to bacons. It always amazes me what they have. Or check the chain plate itself to see if there are any markings and try to go back to the supplier. It wouldn’t surprise me that this will end up being a stock part available from another source for a fraction of what beneteau charges.

I had a bleed valve go bad on my westerbeke. Westerbeke wanted $30 for the part plus $15 for shipping/tax, and I would have to wait 2 weeks for the part. I typed the part number stamped on the part in a google search and found it listed as a Chevy radiator valve stocked at my local autozone for $6. 100% the identical part from the same manufacturer. She was on the engine an hour later. Sometimes you have hustle a little.

Schaefer Marine can take your chainplates and make a copy. The challenge for chainplates is that the holes match so when you try to fasten to the boat you do not need to make new holes in the bulk head.

They will take your plates and make an exact engineered copy using the milling capability they possess in their factory.
Check out their videos of the Cal40 restoration. One of them goes into the process they use as they had to manufacture chainplate replacements for the restoration.

Just curious - why do you need to replace them? 1995 is not a very old boat.

There have been some cracked ones on Catalinas posted here. Does Bene have a similar problem? Storm related?
