I am in the process of a major refit of my 1979 Catalina 30. I want to reinforce the chainplates and bulkheads. I have replaced both the port and starboard bulk heads . I have seen pictures of a mod that uses a turnbuckle and two pieces of stainless to connect the chainplate to the stringer at the bottom . If anyone can refer me to a link ,or has any idea of this mod ,it would be greatly appreciated . I hate to have to 'reinvent the wheel' . I would also be interested in any ideas about a swim platform, preferably one that would raise up.

chainplate extenders

I am also looking to beef up the bulk heads and chainplates. Someplace I saw stainless steel straps about 3 feet long with holes drilled to correspond with the chain plate holes. I don't know if these straps go all the way to the stringer but they would keep the present chinplate mounting holes in the bulk head from becoming more oval. I also wonder if there was any kind of a sleeve that could go over the bolts to enlarge the bearing surface on the wood. Any help would be appreciatted. 1978 C30 #1112.
