Hunter 25.5 Port Washington
I have just purchased a 85' Hunter 25.5. The chain plate for the backstay snapped when the marina hauled it for winter. Does anyone know where i can find a exact replacement? I'm trying to avoid redrilling all the holes. It's about 8" long with a bend at top and 4 bolt holes.

The backstay snapped while in the possesion of the marina? Where you present? Did it show signs of weakend condition during the season? Are you in Port WA Wisconsin? If so I suggest sailing the boat over and storing at Torresen Marine next season.

Have you considered taking it to a machine shop to have them duplicate it? Should be easy to do, just be sure you call out the correct grade of stainless steel.

Call Hunter. They sometimes have this stuff or know where you can procure them.

Also give Rigging Only a call, they may have the part or may be able to fabricate it for you if you send the old one to them.

Garhauer Marine

Garhauer can make it on their CNC laser cutting machine based on a sample you send them. I had them make up new, heavier chainplates for my Hunter 33 (C). They are dead nuts. Garhauer makes a lot of the welded stainless parts for makers like Island Packet and I find their prices are quite reasonable.
