S2 7.3 Menasha
I have a S2 7.3 1978 vintage. The starboard chainplate has lifted about 1/4 inch. Looks like it has pulled the bulkhead with it and the bulk head in turn has pulled the hull inside forming a dimple on the outside of the hull of a diameter of about 7 inches. The dimple is in line with the shroud at the level of the lower end of the bulk head.

The tension on the shroud(s) is normal, must have happened in heavy wind.

Does any one else have experienced this? Any comments and recommendations will be appreciated.

We had a chainplate slip on my friends 7.3

It was during VERY heavy wind and the mast started pumping like crazy. We got the sails down quickly!

Next day he pulled and rebedded the chainplates, but we never noticed deformation of the hull?

Can you drop the rig and pull the chainplate to see if the "dimple" disappears?

If not see if you can temporarily attatch the stays for that chainplate to the toerail?

Please post pics if you can.......
