The plywood that the chain plate attaches to rotted out and caused the our S25 to demast. Does anybody have any suggestions as how to repair. It seems like any system that does not go through the deck surface would be preferable. What about the gelcoat color. What are the proportions. Thanks for any advice. Brad

My chain plates were through the deck and bolted

to the main bulkhead and the lowers were attached to stainlees steel plates under the deck. I repaired the holes, replaced the bulkhead and set new chain plates outboard on the hull. Brad, gel coat color is the least of your concerns at this stage. Do you have a friendly paint store worker to whom you can take a gelcoat chip and have him match the color for you? Those guys are seriously good at that.

Ross, can you post or send me a picture of what you did. What parts did it require, and where did you source the parts. Thanks
