I have just sold my boat and in doing so had a survey done - a very detailed one. The boat has only been in the water for a year (it is a 2003 426 DS). I now am correcting the minor fixes that were found. Most of the items found deal with chafe protection on hoses ect. The one item identified that has me scrathing my head is the surveyer recommended to add chafe protection where the "diamond shrouds cross and touch one another to prevent standing rigging chafe". My question: has anyone done this? Is it really a problem? I guess it is doable, but I haven't seen this on any other boats (I admit I haven't been looking for it either).Any input is appreciated.By the way the boat was surveyed by two persons over an 8 hour period. They are reportedly the best surveyers in the area and travel overseas to survey much larger vessels. They have the nickname of the "deal breakers". That being said they only found a few items - a few chafing points, one crimped battery wire, some questions about the tank monitors, and a problem with a leak into the eyebrow (a decorative piece, that hunter has already agreed to repair). Not bad for a production boat given the once over by people looking for any defect no matter how small.
