center board play
I have a 23' O'Day and have replaced my centerboard pin, this might help!?On my 23 the center board pin is made out of plastic, yep plastic. I repaced it because the inside of the keel was rusted so bad the board wouldn't swing.I drilled out the pin and found the hole to be 15/16" in diameter. I bought a 1" drill bit drilled out the hole and cleaned out the keel/centerboard housing(24 years of rust-at the time). The fix: Get a brass 1" piece of pipe, otherwise referred to as a niple, any hardware store has them. With the amount of play in your centerboard this increase in size will reduce the slight knocking noise you hear. Also check the hole inthe centerboard it might have wore, there are a few ways I can think of to fix that problem. Once the the pipe is tapped into place and the centerboard is moving, get some "P-TEX" and cover the holes, sand, paint and the repair is done.If you have questions e-mail me again and if need be you can call me, i'll give you my number at that time.gjward63@aol.comTake care Greg
